CMD'M POP - Art 'n Sound - Kpop EP

For my first minor in the second year at NHL Stenden, Leeuwarden (March 2023) I had to make an EP in a certain style picked out by myself, consisting of three songs which would all tell a cohesive story, which would touch a world problem subject. During this time I made three songs in a Kpop style, telling the story of how Social Media can change your self image and the only way to feel happy is by accepting and loving yourself. Since Kpop is usually sang by a group, I decided to make a virtual Kpop group, which takes a lot of inspiration from K/DA by League of Legends. The characters have been voiced by some of my friends and they've been drawn by my wonderful partner, Nick Feringa. All the characters also have a backstory and their own views on life and the group. You can find those in the story tab.

Track 1 - The Broken Mirror:
Voiced by: David Verstraete, Isa Zwama, Bart Koster, Marit van der Ploeg, Pernella Hoogervorst & Sophie Dorn
Produced & Edited by: Bart Koster

Track 2 - Pick Up The Pieces:
Voiced by: Isa Zwama, Bart Koster, Pernella Hoogervorst & Danielle de Bakker
Produced & Edited by: Bart Koster

Track 3 - Love Myself:
Voiced, Produced & Edited by: Bart Koster

Original Music & Other School Assignments

Since 2018 I've been busy with music, but ever since my time at Art N Sound I've really improved myself in music production. If we look at the songs below this part of text we can take "I'm A Bitch" as the start of my journey (there are a lot of songs we can start my journey of, but you can check those out on my SoundCloud or Youtube). With the song "Motive" (which was made for a music challenge the teachers gave us (a love song that is allowed to last 1.30 minutes) I started to use drumkits outside of FL Studio, with "Our Fucked Up New Love Story" I started to learn how to use chords and chord progressions and with "Better With You" I started to use autotune on my voice. With the Kpop album I used all this knowledge and started recording those songs in a studio, which I continued doing in "You Are All I Need" and after hearing how much better the quality had gotten by the equipment, I decided to make an extended version of "Motive" and rerecorded this in the studio as well. Last but not least I've been able to buy better recording equipment to use at home, which I've used for the song "This Is How I'm Meant To Be", which is one of my most recent songs till this date. Make sure to check out the playlist at the bottom to listen to all the music I've made throughout the years of my development in music!

Besides making my own original music I've also been learning how to make background music for video and game assignments, jingles, and lofi music, but this doesn't really give me the same satisfaction as making a full song, so I prefer not to do it too much. If you're interested in what I made, though, there are three different SoundCloud pages, one for my fully produced songs, one for my instrumental songs and one for my school assignments.

Edits

My music adventure didn't start with my own music, though. Sine 2016 I've been keeping myself busy from time to time with making mashups (a remix style that mixes instrumentals and acapellas of different songs together). It started with only two songs, but after improving in this, I decided to make bigger mashups, Megamixes of certain artists and edit one song in a way it would become bigger, like an extended version.

Under this part of text I posted examples of what I'm talking about. If you're interested in the whole improvement journey, you can click on the links below to go to YouTube playlists of the certain style.
